MLX91218 Extra High Field IMC-Hall® Current Sensor

Melexis MLX91218 Extra High Field IMC-Hall® Current Sensor Integrated Circuit (IC) is a high-speed, high-accuracy, monolithic sensor with dual overcurrent detection (OCD) functionality, a 3.3V to 5V supply, and an improved SNR. The IMC-Hall technology uses a flexible U-shield for crosstalk immunity and measures currents from 200A to 2000A. This AxX-version sensor provides an analog output voltage proportional to the applied magnetic flux density parallel to the IC surface. A factory-trimmed overtemperature transfer characteristic is programmable (offset, sensitivity, filtering, internal overcurrent threshold) during end-of-line user calibration. The MLX91218 from Melexis includes a second OCD in a SOIC-8 package. The on-chip overcurrent detection reports OCD events with active low open-drain output and can be set within or outside the linear sensing range. The 400kHz bandwidth and fast response time allow adaptation to high-speed applications such as motor control, inverters, and converters.
